THE COLOR OF LOVE

Signet Books

March 1995

Considered by many to be the foremost African American writer of romance, Kitt presents a sizzling romance that compares to The Bodyguard. Leah Downey is a talented black artist dealing with a loveless relationship. Jason Horn is a white cop trying to get over the traumas of his past. When they meet, sparks fly--but can they keep it together?

The Color Of Love/ Signet Books 1994:

I’d already been writing for ten years and I noticed that there were no books in the market that examined interracial relationships.  All I had to do was look around to see how the nature of relationships in America were changing to realize this was an untapped area in fiction.  I wanted to thoroughly exam the emotion and psychological challenges facing a couple from different racial backgrounds.  THE COLOR OF LOVE is about a black woman, Leah Downey, and a white man Jason Horn (who also happens to be a cop) who meet, becomes friends, and fall in love, and then find themselves constantly defending their feelings for each other putting their very lives in danger.  THE COLOR OF LOVE is probably the most popular novel I’ve written.  In its 9th printing it has also been optioned twice for film (HBO and LIFETIME).  I have been receiving email from readers since its release, asking for a sequel.  I have a follow up story outlined and I’m looking for the right publisher who will commit themselves to the story.
